This is a large modern detached house is located in Great Oakley, a village in Northamptonshire. The owners needed an additional living space to help accommodate their family, and connect the house better with the south facing gardens. We proposed a large space on one side of the rear-projecting wing, in place of a shaded terrace area, and built up to the side boundary to avoid wasted external space.

The kitchen and existing living room were opened up to the new garden room, and full width sliding doors were installed to connect the house to the garden.

Additional natural light was brought deep into the space and the existing living room using large rooflights, and a green roof was used to improve the appearance of the new flat roof externally.
